How to Use the Leader Name Generator
This page gives you 10 warrior cat leader names at a time. Every name ends in -star, the special ending only a Clan leader can have.
Each result also shows the warrior name the cat had before it became leader, like "Mossstar, once Mossheart", along with what that old suffix meant. That way you are not just getting a name, you are getting a little bit of history. A leader who was once Mossheart was known for a big, loyal heart. A leader who was once Mosswhisker was probably sharp and curious.
You can narrow the results with two optional filters:
- Clan, to pick from ThunderClan, RiverClan, WindClan, ShadowClan or SkyClan. Each Clan leans toward words that fit its home, like river words for RiverClan or open-moor words for WindClan.
- Nature, to choose a personality, like brave, wise, calm or fierce.

How Leader Names Work
In the Warriors world, a cat's name changes as it grows. It starts as a kit, becomes an apprentice with a -paw name, and then earns a warrior suffix that says something about who it is. Most cats keep that warrior name for life.
A leader is different. When a cat becomes leader of its Clan, it keeps its prefix but drops its warrior suffix. In its place comes -star. So a warrior called Ripplefur would become Ripplestar, and a warrior called Emberflight would become Emberstar.
Who gets the job? Usually the deputy. The deputy is the leader's right paw, helping organize patrols and keep the Clan running. When the old leader retires or passes on, the deputy steps up and receives the -star name.
There is also a famous bit of lore that fans love: leaders are said to receive nine lives when they take their new name. It is part of what makes a leader feel larger than life in stories and roleplay.
Because the prefix stays, a good leader name starts with a good warrior name. A short, strong prefix like Clover, Frost or Wren usually sounds best with -star. Very long prefixes can feel clunky, and prefixes ending in s or t can blur into the ending, so say the name out loud to check.
