How to Use the Backstory Generator
The warrior cat backstory generator writes a short story about where your cat came from. You make a few choices, and it does the writing. Here's how:
- Type a name. Use your cat's full name. If you don't have one yet, the warrior cat name generator can give you ten ideas at once.
- Pick a Clan. Choose ThunderClan, RiverClan, WindClan, ShadowClan or SkyClan.
- Pick a rank. Choose warrior, apprentice, medicine cat, deputy, leader, queen or elder.
- Pick up to 3 traits. Choose from brave, loyal, kind, clever, curious, shy, fierce, calm, proud and playful.
- Pick a length. Short is about 80 words. Medium is about 180 words.
- Write it. A backstory costs 1 credit. If the story fails, your credit comes back automatically.
You need an account to use AI features, and sign-in is with Google only. The free tools never need an account. Credits come in one-time packs: Kit is $2.99 for 40 credits, Warrior is $4.99 for 80 and Leader is $9.99 for 200. They never expire, there is no subscription, and unused credits can be refunded within 14 days. Checkout runs on Waffo, and the site never sees your card.
Every story is written in a warm third-person, past-tense voice for readers aged 10 to 16.
What Makes a Good Backstory
A backstory is the "before" part of your cat's life. It explains who your cat was before your story or roleplay begins. Here's what the best ones have.
Traits that clash a little
A cat who is only brave is fine, but a cat who is brave and shy is interesting. Picking traits that pull in different directions gives your cat something to struggle with. A proud cat who is also kind might have trouble saying sorry. A curious cat who is also calm might notice things nobody else sees.
A rank that matters
Rank shapes daily life. An apprentice is still learning, a queen is caring for kits, a medicine cat knows herbs and healing, and an elder has seen many seasons. Let the rank explain what your cat cares about most.
A home that fits
Each Clan has its own feel. Think forests, rivers, open moors, shadowy pines or high ledges. The Clan you pick helps set the scene for your cat's past.
Room for more
A good backstory doesn't answer every question. It leaves a mystery or a goal open so you have something to write next.
Ideas for Using Your Backstory
- Build a character sheet. Put the backstory next to your cat's picture. Design the look in the warrior cat oc maker, then turn it into a painted portrait with the ai warrior cat generator.
- Describe the coat. Add a book-style look to your story with the fur description generator warrior cats tool.
- Give them a Clan to live in. Make a full set of Clanmates with the warrior cat clan generator so your cat has a mentor, friends and rivals.
- Add a destiny. Pair the backstory with a prophecy from the warrior cats prophecy generator and make your cat the one it's about.
- Open a roleplay. Post the short version as your character's introduction.
- Start a chapter. Use the medium version as a prologue for your fan fiction.
Every result is an original fan character. This is a fan-made tool, not affiliated with Erin Hunter, HarperCollins or the Warriors series. What you make is yours to use in fan fiction, roleplay, art and school projects.
Examples
Here are two short sample backstories about made-up cats, in the same style the generator writes:
Briarstone, a RiverClan warrior who is brave and shy. Briarstone was the quietest kit in the nursery, and she hid whenever visitors came. But when a young apprentice slipped into the fast river one spring, Briarstone dove in without thinking and pulled him to shore. She still didn't like to talk at Clan meetings, but from that day on, nobody doubted her courage.
Wrenfeather, a ShadowClan medicine cat who is curious and calm. As an apprentice, Wrenfeather asked so many questions that his mentor ran out of answers. He spent long nights sorting herbs and learning their smells. When sickness spread through the camp one cold season, Wrenfeather stayed calm and remembered every leaf he had studied. His patience helped the whole Clan heal.
