How to Use This Name List
This page is a big, hand-sorted collection of warrior cat names, more than 500 of them, ready for your next OC or story. You don't need to read it top to bottom. Here's a simple way to find your favorite:
- Use the table of contents. Jump straight to the group that fits your cat, whether that's a fur color, a nature theme or a season.
- Skim and pick a few. Jot down three to five names that catch your eye. Don't overthink it yet.
- Say them out loud. A great name is easy to say and sounds natural when a Clanmate calls it across camp.
- Try every life stage. Swap the ending for kit, paw and star to see how the name works when your cat is young, in training and maybe leading one day.
- Pick the winner. Choose the one that still makes you smile after you've said it ten times.
How the Names Are Grouped
By Fur Color
Many Clan cats are named for how they look. A cat with a ginger pelt might get a prefix like Flame, Rust or Copper, while a gray cat could be Ash, Smoke or Stone. This group is perfect when you already know what your cat looks like and want a name that matches.
By Nature Theme
Clan cats live outdoors, so lots of names come from the world around them: trees, flowers, birds, water, rocks and weather. A cat named after a river plant might feel right at home in RiverClan, while a name tied to wind and open hills could suit a WindClan runner.
By Season
Clan cats don't say spring, summer, fall and winter. They have their own words for the seasons, and these make great inspiration for a cat born at a certain time of year:
- Newleaf is spring, when buds open and the forest wakes up. Think of names like Budkit, Blossompaw or Dewpetal.
- Greenleaf is summer, the warm season of long days and plenty of prey. Names like Sunfern or Honeybreeze fit here.
- Leaf-fall is autumn, when leaves turn red and gold and drift down. Try Russetleaf or Acornheart.
- Leaf-bare is winter, the cold, quiet season of frost and snow. Names like Frostwhisker or Snowfall feel right.
How Warrior Names Work
Every Clan name has two parts. The prefix stays the same for the cat's whole life. The suffix changes as the cat grows up:
- A newborn is a kit, so a cat with the prefix Hazel starts as Hazelkit.
- At about six moons, training begins and the cat becomes Hazelpaw.
- A full warrior gets a new ending that says something about them, like Hazeltail or Hazelheart.
- If the cat becomes leader, the ending turns into star: Hazelstar.
Most of the warrior cat names on this page show a warrior ending, but you can always switch it up. If you want to see what different endings mean, the warrior cat suffix generator explains each one.
